A letter from our CEO: Expanding our horizons in Colombia
Dear PPC Family,
I've just returned from an eye-opening journey through Colombia, and I'm excited to share some insights from this trip with you all.
Why Colombia?
As many of you know, PPC is currently manufacturing millions of packaging units in Colombia. What you might not know is the impressive breadth of capabilities we've established there—from plastic bottles and jars to closures, unit cartons, kits, deodorant sticks, and our high-volume plastic tubes.
But capabilities on paper only tell part of the story. I needed to see firsthand what our Colombian partners were bringing to the table, to ensure the PPC network remains the best in the business.
A Family Legacy of Excellence
One of the highlights of my trip was visiting a remarkable family business (I'll keep their name confidential) that truly exemplifies Colombian manufacturing excellence. Imagine walking into a facility managed by five sisters, all in their 50s and 60s, who are carrying forward a 70-year legacy in packaging production.
This multi-generational enterprise has deep expertise in designing and producing packaging for everything from cosmetics and perfumery to jewelry, accessories, and specialty items. Their commitment to quality is matched only by their dedication to sustainability—they proudly maintain FSC certification and prioritize environmentally responsible materials.
What struck me most was how they've maintained traditional craftsmanship while embracing modern innovation. Their custom solutions not only protect products but enhance brand identity through thoughtful, attractive designs that stand out both in physical retail and digital channels.
Strategic Advantages
Having "boots on the ground" in Colombia gives PPC a significant strategic advantage. Our team there ensures quality control, maintains relationships, and keeps us informed of new capabilities and opportunities.
There are practical benefits too. With ports on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, Colombia offers flexible shipping options. While ocean freight typically takes 3-4 weeks to reach the US, these multiple port options provide valuable routing flexibility. And in today's uncertain trade environment, working with Colombian manufacturers helps us navigate potential tariff issues that might affect other supply chains.
Looking Forward
Colombia represents an important piece of the PPC strategy—diversifying our manufacturing base while maintaining the quality standards our clients expect. The relationships we're building there will serve us well as we continue growing our capabilities.
I returned with renewed confidence in our Colombian partnerships and excitement about the opportunities they present for our clients. If you'd like to learn more about our Colombian manufacturing options, please reach out to your PPC representative.
As always, thank you for your trust in PPC Packaging.
Warmly,
Brandon Frank
